A great strainer overall. Good design, fast strain, lots of volume. But, as he had mentioned, it isn't terribly fine, so depending on what you're preparing you may still get some fines falling through. Generally it'll get the job done just fine, though.

I have used round bottom tea strainers, RSVP brand tight cone strainers and the japanese bird's nest strainers. This is the one that lives in my kit. It can hold a whole sour drink, with egg white, and the mesh is just right, so it strains fast enough for use in a busy bar. The cone shape gives a good directional flow so you can strain into narrow glasses. This is the one to get.

This strainer is a definite upgrade from any traditional tea strainer. I've used everything from restaurant supply and oxo strainers to the ones found in hardcore tea shops the main problem being them clogging then me tapping relentlessly to get them to drain. Thiis strainer adresses that problem directly by being deeper (allowing more volume) and having a conical shape (making everything strain faster and though a larger area of the strainer) The only con i will say this strainer has is that the mesh is nt as fine as some of the tea strainers i have been using so if straining a drink shaken with a puree you will still get some sediment but not enough to effect the drinking experience. Overall i love this strainer and plan to order a few more for travel and competitions.
